I grew up in black neighborhoods and went to black schools. My husband is African-American and my children and grandchildren are bi-racial. Black people tell me they do not see me as white because I am black on the inside and white on the outside. (I am not consciously trying to be.) Prejudiced white people tell me I accept you and your family because I know you. Why can’t everyone just accept me as a human being and not as a social construct or an anomaly? That is a question that human nature will never be able to answer. Well, anyway, this is a great piece!
