I am the mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of 21 people of color. It never ends. I still get the same looks and remarks as I did 45 years ago. Buying groceries is the same. Even when my husband puts the items on the counter, they still ask, "Are you together?" My favorite comeback is, "Well, don't we look like it." That'll get them to thinking!
